Brother Riley with the Lord

Reverend Paul Riley, retired ordained Assemblies of God minister, passed away at his home Saturday, September 5, 2015. Pastor Riley and his wife, Helen, pioneered Wasilla Assembly (now Summit Worship Center) in 1951. The picture of the groundbreaking for that facility is below.  He served faithfully in various ministries as pastor, presbyter, and prison chaplain for more than 60 years. His contribution to Alaska ministry is greatly appreciated by the Alaska Ministry Network, and he will be missed by his many friends and co-laborers in Christ.

A celebration of life will be held at Summit Worship Center, located at 125 W. Riley Ave, Wasilla, Friday, September 11, at 1:00 p.m.

Our deepest sympathies and heartfelt prayers go out to Sister Riley and family during this difficult time.

"To be absent from the body. . . [is] to be present with the Lord" (2 Corinthians 5:8 KJV).

Pastoral Care Meeting

This past year, Pastoral Care Ministries was officially approved by the Network Presbytery.  Kim Stickler has been appointed as the Ministry Director and Pastoral Care team members have been selected from each region of the State.  The function of the ministry is to provide confidential pastoral care to ministers and their families.  We will be releasing more information about this ministry in the next month, but we are very excited about the benefits it will provide to the ministers of the Network and their families.  This past Thursday, we held the first pastoral care meeting to strategize and provide training.

Annual Ministry Director's Forum

We enjoyed having the Alaska Ministry Network Directors in the office, as Supt. Bill Welch hosted the  Annual Director’s Forum.  We appreciate this time together, as we focus on relationship building, spiritual enrichment, getting directors feedback, providing an administrative update, and collaboration.  Our Network is blessed with dedicated and excellent directors, who provide oversight and direction to the ministries throughout the Network and State.

Treasurer Jack Aiken gave a superb devotion to start off the day, teaching from Ephesians on “The Worthy Walk and the Wise Walk.”

This year, we skyped in General Treasurer Doug Clay for leadership training.  He provided excellent training, including “10 Qualities of a Valuable Team Member.”  We enjoyed hearing from the heart of one of our national leaders.

God is doing great things in our Network Ministries, and we praise Him for that.

Wasilla Pastoral Installation

Superintendent Bill Welch recently installed Pastor Milt and Melinda Michener as Pastors of Wasilla Assembly of God.  Founding Pastor Paul and Helen Riley were present for the occasion.  In the picture below, Dr. Lattis Campbell, who served as the interim Pastor for the church, is honoring Pastor Riley for his service to Wasilla AG.

Superintendent Bill Welch installed Pastor Milt and Melinda as Pastors of the church.  As he presented Pastor Milt with the shepherd's staff, he instructed him to "Shepherd the flock of God."

Superintendent Bill Welch and the congregation prayed over the new pastoral couple.

Following the pastoral installation, Pastor Milt preached a great message to the church.

AKYC 2013

AKYC was an amazing event this year. We saw close to 900 students and leaders encouraged and impacted through  worship and the word. We were blessed to have Heath Adamson, our National Youth Director with us as the keynote speaker. Heath’s messages challenged both the leaders and the students. Many students were baptized in the Holy Spirit, called into full-time vocational ministry and experienced physical healing.

This event could not have happened without the support and involvement of so many volunteers. Thank you for all your help making this such a powerful event. Terry Hull of Voice to the Village invested countless hours helping us live stream AKYC to those who could not be with us physically!
